Do you offer multi-stop loads?

RailPlus offers multi-stop pickups and deliveries. Talk to your account manager today to learn more about this option. For more information, refer to Service Directory 1, Section 11.10 (PDF).

What is the maximum weight you can move with RailPlus?

A bill of lading (BOL) of 42,500lb or less is recommended to lower the risk of incurring overweight issues.
Light cab requests are not accepted. All costs including fines for overweight infractions will be assessed against the customer (broker).
If you enter BOL weight over 40,000lbs in ShipCSX you will receive the following alert. You can still book the load. The alert is an FYI that the weight entered close to being at the top of the allowed weight limit. You can still proceed with booking the load, but you will be responsible for fines resulting from overweight infractions.
For loads over 42,000 pounds, contact your RailPlus sales representative to discuss.

How do I book a load with RailPlus?

As part of your onboarding, you will be provided access to ShipCSX, an online booking portal where you will have access to rates, schedules and other tools. If you are already a customer, access ShipCSX to view rates, review schedules and book your next load.

Do you pick-up or deliver to ports? Do you pick up /deliver in residential areas?

We offer limited service to ports. Please contact your Sales Account Manager for more information.

We do not offer service to residential areas.

Do your drivers block and brace the load for the shipper?

The shipper is responsible for packaging, loading, blocking and bracing of all cargo. Drivers do not block and brace loads. Refer to Service Directory 1 Section 6.2 (PDF) for more information.

If you need information on approved blocking and bracing procedures and techniques, our Load Engineering And Design Team (LEADS) can assist you with a complimentary load planning consultation. Prior to working with LEADS, you will need to provide the following information:

What is the commodity packaged in? (cartons, drums, pails, totes)
Are they loaded on pallets or floor loaded?
If loaded on pallets how are they secured to the pallets? (stretch wrap, banding)
How many pallets will be loaded?

Do drivers remove or replace HazMat placards?

No. Drivers will not replace or remove HazMat placards. Read more in the Service Directory.

Do your rates include fuel? What is your fuel surcharge?

Spot rates include a fuel surcharge. Committed or project pricing rates only include the linehaul charge.
The fuel surcharge is subject to change weekly and applies to all UMAX and CSXU moves which originate on the CSXT network, both local and interline. For the most current rate, visit intermodal.com Fast Facts.

What is your cargo insurance coverage? Can we purchase additional insurance?

$250,000 general liability insurance is available
Liability for the contents of any domestic intermodal shipment of consumer electronics will be limited to $100,000

Are your containers food grade?

Access to food grade containers is not available.

Do you provide refrigerated service?

RailPlus does not offer refrigerated service.
